How to Revert or Roll Back to a Previous Build in Famous.ai

Sometimes a prompt takes your project in a direction you didn't expect, or you simply realize you liked an earlier version better. Famous.ai makes it easy to "undo" these changes using the rollback feature.

Here is how to safely revert your project to a previous state without losing your progress.

Step 1: Locate the Correct Rollback Button

In Famous.ai, your project history is saved linearly. Because you might have several prompts in a row, the interface provides multiple rollback options. Go to the dashboard and open your project:

  • The Golden Rule: To undo a specific change, look for the Rollback button located directly above the prompt you just implemented in the chat panel.

  • Why it matters: Clicking the button above your most recent prompt tells the system to discard that specific instruction and return to the state the project was in immediately before that prompt was given.

Step 2: Implement the Rollback

Once you've identified the specific version you want to return to:

  • Click Rollback: Hit the button above the unwanted prompt.

  • Watch the change: The adjustment happens almost instantaneously. For example, if you changed a headline and didn't like it, the original text will pop back into place immediately.

Step 3: Update Your Published Version

Rolling back the build in your editor changes the "work-in-progress" version. To make sure this change is reflected in what the world sees:

  • Hit Preview: Click the Publish button again. This refreshes the build and ensures the reverted version is the one currently active and ready for publication.

Important: Proceed with Caution

While rolling back is a powerful tool, you should keep a few things in mind to protect your work:

  • Don't Roll Back Too Far: Be careful not to click a rollback button from much earlier in your chat history unless you truly want to discard everything that happened after that point.

  • Check Your Work: Always double-check which version you are reverting to so you don't accidentally lose a different edit you actually wanted to keep.

  • Pay Attention to Placement: As long as you remember that the button above your prompt is the "undo" for that specific action, you’ll be in great shape.
