How to Delete a Project (Proceed with Caution!)
Cleaning up your workspace is always a good idea, but when it comes to deleting a project, you need to be absolutely sure. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Whether you are clearing out old test builds or making room for new ideas, deleting a project couldn't be easier. Here is how to do it safely.
Getting to Your Dashboard
Before you can manage or delete any of your builds, you need to get to your home base, where all your projects live.
Open famous.ai in your web browser.
Click on your profile image located in the top right corner of the screen.
Select Dashboard from the dropdown menu to view all of your live and sleeping projects.
A Quick Warning: Sleep Mode vs. Deletion
Hold on a second! Before you delete anything, ask yourself: Do you actually want to destroy this project forever, or do you just want it to stop consuming resources and costing you money?
If you just want to pause a project, do not delete it. Instead, use Sleep Mode. Having a bunch of active, live projects running at once will rack up costs, but putting them to sleep safely stores them without the resource drain.
However, if you are 100% sure you want the project gone forever, here are the two ways to delete it.
Method 1: Deleting From the Dashboard
If you are looking at your list of projects on the dashboard, you can delete one right from there.
Locate the specific project you want to get rid of.
Click the Settings button on that project's card.
Scroll to the bottom right of the settings menu and click Delete project.
A warning prompt will appear telling you this cannot be undone.
Type the word DELETE in all capital letters into the text box to confirm.
Click the final Delete project button.
Method 2: Deleting From Inside the Project
Let's say you are already inside a project (like a nice meditation app you were messing around with), and you decide it is time to scrap it. You don't need to go back to the dashboard to do it.
Click your project name located next to the Famous logo at the top right of your builder screen.
Select Settings from the dropdown menu that appears.
Scroll to the very bottom of the settings page and click Delete project.
Read the warning carefully: This action cannot be undone.
Type DELETE in all caps into the confirmation box.
Hit the button to finalize the deletion.
Always be careful what you are deleting so you don't accidentally wipe out your hard work.
